Recruiting engineering-grade leadership and emerging leaders.

The challenge

The connection started through a mutual contact and was nurtured over nearly a year of invitations to a leadership forum — no hard sell, just persistence and genuine interest. The retailer was mid-way through a major warehouse automation project, a significant capital investment to modernize its distribution network. The internal team was effective at frontline hiring but didn’t have the depth to identify leadership-calibre talent at the distribution-centre level.

There was a harder problem underneath it: the brand was iconic but mid-transformation, and the market had questions about where it was headed. How do you recruit top operational leaders into a company whose next chapter isn’t yet written?

The approach

We reframed the opportunity rather than dressing it up. This is a transformation story — come in, take on the kind of scope you’d wait years for elsewhere, earn the promotion, then carry that experience into something bigger. It worked. We placed an Operations Manager, then a VP of Supply Chain, then a Director of Business Intelligence and Analytics — every hire sharing the same profile: industrial or mechanical engineering backgrounds, analytical and process-driven, drawn from larger organizations.

Capital and technology enable a transformation. Talent determines whether it delivers.

The right leadership hire doesn't just fill a seat — it sets the ceiling for the entire transformation.
