Continuous Improvement Manager
Compensation: up to $135k
Bonus: 10%

SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Continuous Improvement Manager (CIM) is responsible for Continuous Improvement initiatives with a strong focus on operational improvements and best practice optimization for our manufacturing facilities while meeting all of the quality standards set forth by the company and government regulations.
The successful candidate will work side-by side with management staff to discover inefficiencies in business processes and determine the best ways to bring our business methods in line with our financial goals. The CIM will coordinate with all site and supporting staff to assist in the enhancement of existing business processes and implementation of new systems. The CIM will lead to ensure high quality and timely support to users and looks to continually improve the quality of the services provided.
KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: The specific responsibilities of the role, while not limited to, include:
The CIM is expected to be familiar with a variety of continuous improvement concepts, practices and procedures. A key focus will be made with the continuous improvement & development of policies, processes and technology.
The CIM will be focus on the following core activities in the first 18 months:
Value Stream Mapping of the New Toronto and Ajax processes
Setting up of standards, routing and cycle times to set a baseline for measurement of efficiency, improvement analysis and configuration of our new ERP system
Assist in the configuration and test of the new ERP system prior to go-live
Construct a productivity pipeline build up from target improvement project charters
Change-management preparations and end-user support during the introduction and go-live of the ERP system at New Toronto and potentially other plants
Consulting and supporting management to achieve the targets for productivity and quality
Coaching of leadership teams in the definition and realization of their CIP projects and the utilization of the CIP tools
Develop CI methodology, perform training, coaching and assessment, in collaboration other functions
Establish & monitor CI KPI’s, based upon Plant Key Operator Factors and objectives, ensuring alignment & comprehension at all levels of the operation
Provide additional support in other areas of Operational Excellence as needed
Ensuring operating compliance to DCL policies and processes
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Following are the minimum requirements for the position:
Minimum 10 years of experience in continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Manufacturing, industrial or Electrical), Commerce, or equivalent
College DiplomaCertification in Lean Six Sigma - black or green belt preferred
Structured and process orientated with experience of achieving continuous improvement
Ability to motivate and coach teams towards stretch goalsKnowledge of ERP/MRP and inventory control
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong negotiating, analytical and administrative skills
Ability to multi-task, plan, organize and meet schedules and deadlines
Proven interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy
Proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
Ability to project professional positive, public image and goodwill
